HEATING USING UNDER-FLOOR RADIANT

HEATING USING UNDER-FLOOR RADIANTUnder-Floor radiant heating systems are used in situations where there is no concrete slab available. (see: Heating Using In-Floor Radiant in this series) Under-Floor systems function in the same way as in-floor systems in that flexible tubes carrying fluid gently circulate under the floor and can be used in new or retrofit construction. These tubes are installed between the sub-floor joists and reflective shield ensure that the heat transfer is directed upwards. Once the floor reaches the desired temperature, objects in the space are warmed and finally every item in the space is at the same temperature. The tubes are connected to manifolds that distribute fluid to various rooms (zones). Individual thermostats are used to set temperatures according to the occupants requirements. These installations are totally silent and dust free creating excellent indoor air quality and unsurpassed occupant comfort. Over the years under-floor radiant systems have been simplified and the broad offering of components by leading manufacturers has lowered the cost of under-floor installations significantly and increased their use in both residential and commercial applications.
